Miniwars 2017 Sunday October 1st

As for most cons Sunday is a lighter day but we still had great attendance. with plenty of games and shopping available. The Warhouse from Long Beach had been in our room on Saturday, and they were joined by Scale Specialties who moved over from the main dealer room since we did not rent that room for Sunday. The Guild House was also in attendance on Saturday.

Here we are back setting up for Sundays games.

This game was another Market Garden game around Nijmegen. I don't recall the name of Steve Phenow's rules, sorry Steve!

Next up is a beautiful Pike and Shotte Italian Wars game. Lots of Landsknechts including the famed Bandera Negra

There was some ongoing games of Lion Rampant. A great way to get beginners into the hobby.

Also a Napoleonic game of Saalfeld in 28mm. More info and pictures can be found here Wargamer Rabbit

Again on Sunday we had the boardgaming room that was active as well as the other room that featured an X-Wing tournament, a sailing ship game, and Wings of Glory games, including one with King Kong

There was also a WW2 naval game that I participated in. It was hosted by Ed Kettler, who I got to know over the course of the con, great guy!, He is a co-author of the rules with Larry Bond and Chris Carlson. It is a detailed set of rules and I had a good time despite the Brits sinking the Haruna. The scenario presupposed no European war and the Japanese not attacking the US. So the Japanese were facing an remodeled Hood with a British fleet. The poor Haruna got hammered.

Last but not least was a  well attended Team Yankee tournament. Again this was sponsored by Battlefront and Brookhurst Hobbies. The organizer Troy Hill stepped up big time for us after the death of Tim Keennon or Treasurer and the original organizer for this tournament. Troy even got this tournament designated a regional qualifier.

Overall it was a very successful con, over 140 unique participants. Tons of great and constructive feedback. I feel a few tweaks and we could have a really fantastic con next year. For those that may be interested, keep your eye on our website http://www.hmgspsw.com/ for our next event. Miniwars 2018 will be at the same venue and it will be in October. Thanks for taking a look and I hope to see you there next year.
