Miniwars 2017 Saturday September 30th

Miniwars 2017 occurred on September 30th and October 1st at the Cal State Fullerton Titan Student Union Center. It is a very nice facility and It was great to see our con back to two days and in a facility like this. As one of the organizers I was there all day both Saturday and Sunday and got a good look at everything that was going on. I did not get any pictures out side the main room, but, we did have a board gaming room that featured a large Supremacy game on Saturday and another room that hosted various games throughout the two days. The board had decided to do our con in conjunction with the Orange County IPMS Chapters Orangecon. It worked out great with there being a large dealer/Flea Market room between the two event. lots of good stuff to buy for both groups.

Here are some of the pictures from Saturday;

Setting up Saturday Morning

This game was a post/end of war tech grab with the Russians and the US trying to get the tech and prevent the other side from getting it. Additional info on the game and another take on the con can be found here Wargamer Rabbit

Here is a SYW game using Osprey's Honours of War rules. We had decided early in our planning to feature Osprey and had several Osprey games going on during the weekend. Osprey, in turn, gave us generous prize support for the con. I got to play in this one and enjoyed it very much.

This is a 6mm game of Gettysburg. The rules I think are a homebrew set. This game went on both days. It deviated from the original battle, in that, the battle lines went perpendicular to what really happened.

Next up is a Market Garden game using the unpublished Fire and Manuever rules.

There was also this gorgeous Black Powder game of Aspern Essling. gobs of 28mm figures on the board.

Here is another Osprey game Of Gods and Mortals.... looked like good fun. A couple youngsters were playing in this one and appeared to have a great time...

We also had some X-Wing demos and a FOW Late War Tourney that was sponsored by Battlefront and Brookhurst Hobbies.

I closed out Saturday with a game of Cthulhu Wars. Yeah, Yeah its' not historical, but it was fun none the less.

Since there is so much I will do a separate post for Sunday!
